Hi, I'm Kate!
I’m the founder of Goddess Rising.
This platform was born directly from my personal experience. Many times in my life, I’ve made the decision to leave the situations that offered me a sense of safety and security—including prestigious jobs, relationships, and the religion I was raised in—because I knew deep down that they weren’t in alignment with my authentic self.
As I stepped away from patriarchal structures and mindsets, reawakened my intuition, and reconnected with my personal power, I experienced profound transformations in all aspects of my life. I created Goddess Rising to help other people awaken their own inner goddess and make their authentic dreams and desires a reality.
More About Me
I’m a single mom, published author, occasional model & creator, erstwhile podcaster, and former professor with a PhD in medieval literature. I've taught at several universities, including the University of Southern California. I'm a citizen of Aotearoa New Zealand, and my family is Ngāi Tahu Māori. I also have European roots, most notably in Alba (Scotland). My Māori and Scottish heritage are extremely important to me, and my whakapapa (cultural identity/ lineage) inspires most of my writing and forms the cornerstone of my spiritual practice.
I was born in the Year of the Dragon, and my key astrological placements are in Cancer and Sagittarius. For me, that manifests as a lot of dreamy, creative energy and a deep love for the ocean, along with a fiery, adventurous side that craves travel and new experiences. I studied French and adore visiting France, or anywhere with a beach! My soul always feels most at home by the sea. For these reasons, I like to joke that I'm a Mermaid Sun, Witch Moon, & Goddess Rising, which is how I got the name for this platform! Goddess Rising was born in Los Angeles, where I lived for almost a decade. In 2025, I moved back to my home state of Utah. I now live at the base of the Wasatch Mountains with my daughter and our Siberian Husky, Luna. The three of us howl regularly at the moon.
