Once you have a sense of how your archetypes feel to you, it’s time to start living them!
My archetypes are Goddess of the Sea, Goddess of Travel and Adventure, and Goddess of the Arts. I’ve already shared some examples of how living in alignment with my archetypes changed my life, but I’ll share a few more here.
As a Goddess of the Arts, I love going to music events: festivals, concerts, clubs, you name it! After my divorce, I didn't have many friends in L.A., so I had no one to go to these events with. But I’d learned that amazing things happen when I prioritize the things that are important to me, so I went by myself! In the summer of 2021, I went to an event virtually every weekend and was able to discover all kinds of cool places in L.A. (Going on these mini adventures was also in alignment with my Goddess of Travel and Adventure archetype.) In the process, I made lots of new friends, including the people who are my closest friends today!
Another way I embraced my archetypes was by trying out an art form that’s always called to me but I’d never felt empowered enough to pursue, which was modeling! I started by taking self-portraits and posting them on Instagram. It was great practice to learn how to pose for the camera, how to edit photographs, and how to get outside my comfort zone, despite my fears about what people would think. Before long, photographers and brands were reaching out about collaborations. I started doing paid shoots and even walked in a fashion show, which was terrifying! But it was exhilarating to engage in a new kind of art form and view myself in a different light. My favorite shoots were ones I got to plan and direct myself, because that's when my creativity really got to shine. The more I modeled, the more my confidence grew, and the more my life changed!
I never intended modeling to be my career. (My primary art form will always be writing.) But engaging in a new passion was incredibly fulfilling and prompted a tremendous amount of growth. I also picked up a lot of skills that I’ve been able to apply to Goddess Rising!
How you engage with your archetypes will depend entirely on your unique goddess energy. If you’re not sure yet what that looks like, try something you’ve always wanted to try! Experiment! Go back to the questions at the beginning of the workshop. What did you love to do (or want to do) as a child? Why not do that now and see what happens?
While I was creating this workshop, the universe nudged me in a very unexpected direction: back to my home state of Utah. Obviously, as a Goddess of the Sea, the ocean is very important to me, so giving that up was a sacrifice, but I knew Utah was where I needed to be for this chapter of my life (not just for me but for my daughter and our dog Luna). To make up for losing the beach, I made sure that I found an apartment with a pool, hot tub, and an extra deep bathtub. My apartment—which provides a much more inspiring space where I can focus on my writing and creative pursuits—is also right next to a river, which Luna and I walk to every day. As an added bonus, we live in the mountains, so there are ample opportunities for outdoor adventures, including waterfall hikes. So don't worry if you're a Sea Goddess and you live in a landlocked state! You can embody your goddess archetype anywhere!
My friend Amber is a Goddess of the Earth, a Goddess of Travel and Adventure, and a Goddess of Healing. She lives her archetypes by spending a lot of time outside, especially with her sweet dog. She’s always seeking adventures and never turns down an opportunity for a new experience, like being invited to learn and then perform a traditional Japanese dance! She makes time to go backpacking, hiking, kayaking, river rafting, and to explore the unknown. Some of her recent excursions have included a week-long river rafting trip through the Grand Canyon and a rejuvenating trip to the jungles of Hawaii. Living her archetypes brings her immense fulfillment and joy.
